Nikon Life Wintersport

Nikon kicked off winter by asking us to look for properties that they could partner with to activate the ski & snowboard communities in 2 different countries—UK and Germany.  

After scanning relevant events, we recommended The Telegraph’s London Ski & Snow Show at Battersea Park and WOW Glacier Love Festival in Kaprun, Austria. Both events are high-energy season openers and fit within the Nov/Dec timing. 

London had pro-rider competitions, a 15-metre real snow kicker and plenty of après-ski bars to get ski & snowboard fans in the mood for the new season. The WOW Glacier Love Festival in Kaprun, Austria is a 3-day Wintersport festival to open their season. Their activities consisted of a professional Free Ski competition called Fridge Festival, workshops, product giveaways, large scale music events in the city and tons of after-parties. 

Our challenge was to ensure Nikon can make a credible contribution to each event beyond logo placement and co-create unique moments with the audience. From the stand design to the experiences we offered, our main objective was to include photography enthusiasts and amateurs in different ways ranging from masterclasses with top wintersport professional photograhers/filmmakers, building a green screen studio, hosting influencer sessions and offering camera loan opportunities.   

All content linked back in real-time to the Nikon Life platform where people were encouraged to share.  Photo competitions and prize giveaways helped extend the reach beyond the events.  

Highlights included

Influencer Workshop

8 influencers were invited to the event to learn more about the D5500 and meet Dan Voijtech, our pro photographer. We created a bespoke program to host them, give them inspiration with a masterclass by Dan and a dedicated workshop to try the product.

Camera Loan

Visitors could try cameras by visiting the Camera Loan counter.  We had experts able to help people decide which product is right for them.  They could also receive tutorials/tips & tricks to capture action shots, environmental shots and portraits in better ways.  We also set up Shoot Zones around the event terrain to recommend places to capture quality images.   

Green Screen photo souvenir

Visitors were invited to strap on a snowboard, choose a background and get their green screen souvenir. Encouraged people to participate and share through their own social channels and NikonLife.
