VeloCity: Bike Stop Concept

As e-bikes increase, supporting infrastructure is required

Together with BYCS, we were asked to look at infrastructure that could support longer cycling trips. With the rise of e-bikes and the growing popularity of urban cycling, we set out to address the lack of cycling infrastructure along the routes.

We researched the needs cyclists have while on long “cycle superhighways” and found out the main needs are: rest, refuel, shelter and repair.  Communication and lighting were also high in the needs list so these items also informed our design brief.

We designed a modular bike stop system that can scale based on surrounding infrastructure.  We showcased the designs at the VeloCity International Cycling Festival and conducted research along along cycling route.

Making the ‘smarter’ world more human.
