Kicking off the ski season with Nikon Life

We’re just back from two events with Nikon that kicked off the ski season and our winter activity as part of the Nikon Life platform. In London thousands braved the weather to attend The Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Show, whilst in Kaprun, Austria, the snow had been falling all week for fantastic conditions at the WOW Glacier Love Festival.

The Ski & Snowboard Show, now in its 40th year, started as a consumer show for ski & snowboard fans and has evolved into a weekend-long festival. There were pro-rider competitions, a 15 metre real snow kicker, music stage, fashion shows and, of course, après-ski in the form of gluwein, street food and fine dining. WOW Glacier Love is a three-day music festival with free ski and snowboard competitions set in the Austrian resort of Kaprun in Zam El See. At both events we knew that the crowds were coming because of their love for the sport, the action (and après-ski!) and getting geared up for the new season. We designed a series of experiences that would compliment this, enhance the event and create active engagement with Nikon products and expertise.

We set up our Nikon Experience zone at the foot of the kicker and our popular camera loan scheme meant visitors could test out the latest kit and get some impressive shots. Our experts provided tips and tricks so everyone could get the most out of the equipment and selected our exclusive ‘shoot zones’ to give access to areas to get the best images of the day.

Tomorrow Creative (Dan Voijtech & Martin Privratsky) were on hand again to offer ambassador workshops to teach keen photographers the best techniques for shooting winter sports. These guys are masters of getting the perfect shots for action sports and they shared their techniques, tips and tricks with Nikon fans.

We knew that not everyone wants to loan a camera and some people will be new to the sport, so we brought our green screen experience. After being inspired by the riders on the jump, visitors could pull their own poses and stunts against a range of extreme backdrops in the Nikon experience zone.
